Q: Why HD?
A:High definition is quite simply the premiere format for professional video production today, which provides sharper detail and superb quality sound. We are proud of the fact that we have updated to glorious high definition, but what does that mean for you? Shooting in HD, images are sharper and more detailed, colours are deeper and more vibrant. This is because HD video stores as much as 4 times the information and detail as Standard Definition, the picture looks razor-sharp and more life like, so you can be safe in the knowledge that your memories will be preserved with the best possible quality for years to come.

Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: Brides-to-be are advised to consider their wedding videos as a “Top 10” service. Book your wedding videographer as soon as you have set the date of your wedding. To avoid disappointment, especially if your wedding is on a weekend, try to book at least a year in advance.

Q: How can I find out more information on what it will cost?
A: There are no hidden costs on our services. You will see the costs of all packages and extras on our online Booking & Holding Request Form. Alternatively you can fill out the Enquiry Form or phone us direct, and we will take some details from you to help select the right package for you. The cost will simply reflect the size of the camera crew required and the time we spend on filming and post-production.

Q: Would the camcorder disturb my guests?
A: Our aim is to capture the day as naturally as possible, so this often means standing back from the action and using the zoom on the camera. With our advanced digital video and audio capture tools we do not need to be “in your face”. Our camera crew is friendly and approachable and tries to build a good rapport with your guests so they are comfortable with our presence. We do not ask you to pose or disturb you with unnecessary questions. All our preparation is done before the wedding so we leave you free to enjoy your day.

Q: Do I have to use music?
A: Most people prefer music simply because they do not like their own voices. However, if you prefer conversations to music we are happy to meet your wishes. Capturing conversations in crowded areas can be very difficult. It is impossible to put radio microphones on every guest. So please think carefully before you decide whether you want music.

Q: Who chooses the music?
A: We always ask you to choose your own music as it is your video/DVD and it is personal. The only guideline here is to stay away from copyright free music. Commercial music gives your wedding video a professional finish and we pay for copyright licenses for you. We advise you to tell us your musical preferences as soon as possible, even at our first meeting. Delayed submission of music choices will result in delays during post-production.

Q: Do you use lights?
A: Lights have a bad effect on what we are trying to film. If you saw a camera light switched on all your guests would move away from it, thus ruining the shots of your guests. We would consider using lights during the day if we really thought we needed them, which is one reason why we have a meeting with you to view the venues before your wedding day.

Q: Do you film while we are eating?
A: We do not film while you and your guests are eating. Not only can it make you and your guests feel uncomfortable, but it also serves as a rest period for the camera crew, who may have been filming non-stop for quite a long time.

Q: How long is the video going to be?
A: 2-3 hour long epic wedding videos are very dated. Your wedding video should be a polished production with artistic and entertaining montages. We believe that an hour long programme is quite enough. Sometimes the video will be shorter or longer depending on the size of your wedding and the choice of your package.

Q: How many special effects am I getting?
A: Unnecessary effects never help. We only use special effects when it is appropriate. Your final production will be professionally edited to a high standard with cinematic transitions such as film dissolve, fade in, fade out…

Q: Can I be involved in the editing process?
A: The editing of a wedding video takes many days. Therefore it is not practical to involve you, and the final edit must be entrusted to Britlife. However if there is something particular that you want to include in your video, please let us know. Our packages are flexible and you will be offered a personal consultation with the Creative Director before the day to make sure our services capture your wedding fully and flow with your own unique flair.

Q: How soon after the wedding will I receive the video?
A: We normally deliver the video within 6 weeks of your Wedding day. Sometimes during the summer months we can be put back to 10 weeks. Video editing is time-consuming and we believe that our clients pay for a production, not raw footage. Therefore the final edit should be as polished as possible. We do not rush our work, and we do not contract out our editing. Please bear in mind that we can only start editing if we have everything – your music choices, electronic copy of your credit...

Q: Do you provide the raw footage?
A: Yes, but only selections on DVD format, at an extra cost.
